Seong- Duet for Clarinet and Mandolin

 This unusual instrumentation was inspired by the beautiful, exotic and romantic yet powerful sound of the mandolin contrasting with the mellow and “honest” tone of the clarinet. The work started out as a short piece, then expanded to the three-movement composition. The title Seong means two or duet in Thai language.  The piece shows off roles equally for both instruments- technically and musically.
