Blackberry Mythology

Both humans and their animal neighbors have picked through thick brambles to gather these delectable berries. Blackberries are delicious when served in both wines and desserts. According to English fokelore passing under the archway formed by a bramble branch will cure (or prevent) all manner of afflictions. The Celts believed this was a fruit sacred to the fae, and warned against eating it. In Christian lore, the crown of thorns worn by Jesus was made from brambles and thus turned the fruit from red to black. Just like the count from Sesame Street, planting a bush of blackberries near your home will prevent a vampire from entering as he will stop and obsessively count the berries and forget why he came. This fruit is also healing for the kidneys and liver.
